Best Korean Dramas Of 2017

I think it is safe to say that 2017 was/is the Year of BTS and Prosecutors in K-Land.  So congratulations to the band for everything they achieved this year and I hope they keep going up and I know the year isn't over yet but I think we have a enough material for a post like this.      These dramas may not be the most popular but I really liked them! This article is based on my opinion but the dramas are not in any particular order I just like them all. Queen Of Mystery I really loved this show and I am so happy that it is getting a second season. It's a story about a housewife who lives with her mother and sister in law. She spends most of her day cleaning, cooking and washing, but when no one is looking she reads and researches crimes. One fateful day she helps a cop solve a crime and her mystery adventures begin, but things cant always be safe when you are playing this game. Queen Of Mystery-Review

We learn that as she and the neighborhood cop accidently become a part of a drug related case. Which leads our lovely Ahjumma/ Aghashi to meet the tsudere cop who was originally working on the case. As things turn out he and the nosy housewife need to work together to solve the case. Both these main characters have dark things in their past that they need to solve for them to be at peace.      As far as romance is concerned, this drama does have one sided crushes but there are too many secrets and lies for things to get serious. Which actually made sense and if somehow a romance had blossomed in between all this confusion it would

You Are too Much - Review

This drama is too much, too too too Toooooooooo Much!!! So the story revolves around two women. One being a popular star and the other her imitator. This drama is filled up to the brim with shouting, screaming, kicking, beating, potting, crying, lying, deceiving  and cheating. Before watching this drama you must know that no one in the rich family eats, they only gather at the table to fight If for once they do eat that just means they have acquired the energy to fight even more. It is one of the first dramas that I watched and has more then 21 episodes. The plot is amazing and the first few episodes really reel you in but then the one of the main character get changed because they got sick in real life #getwellsoon, and the drama sort of looses a little bit of its charm. When The actor was first replaced I dropped the drama and though that I would probably never see it again but the story stayed in my head and I wanted to know what would happen next. Yes, there are moments wher

Descendants of the Sun - Review (I was SO Wrong)

This drama has many layers. The top one is obviously the romance between a solider and a civilian doctor, and their journey to overcome their differences. But if we look beyond that layer it has hidden themes that work on an even deeper level. These themes include war and it's price, natural disasters and their aftermath, corrupt officials and their effect on society, soldiers and what they have to go through in the name of peace and last but not the least doctors and their sense of duty.      This drama was released last year but I put it off for such a long time because I thought that it would focus on war between North and South Korea. With the story being one sided, having mostly fight scenes and death. But I was sooooooooooo wrong, because this story is soooooooo much more than that. It not only tells us a story from both sides, it also low key shows how on both sides of border we are all humans. Which for me was a very mature thing to do and makes this drama a winner.

Suspicious Partner - Review

Suspicious partner  revolves around law, justice and morals. It is a perfect blend of crime, action, adventure and romance. With just the right amount of comic relief, it tells us a story about an aspiring prosecutor who is wrongly accused of killing her ex-boyfriend, a prosecutor with a strong sense of justice, a serial killer looking for revenge, lovers who betray their partners and friends who need to make amends. It focuses on issues like rape, murder and arson, and tells us what might happen if crimes go unpunished.       I personally think that this drama can be taken as something that other dramas should aspire to. It has a well rounded plot with highly developed characters, having great emotional depth. Anyone who has lost someone important in their lives will relate to the emotions that these characters are feeling.            The chemistry between the wrongly accused female lead and the prosecutor male lead is so strong that you can feel it through the screen. If

The K2 - Review

The K2 is a drama about a military man, who has been removed from his position on false accusations and is now in hiding. His already damned fate takes another bitter turn when he witnesses a presidential candidate in a not so decent setting, which leads him to be on the run again. This drama is also about a girl who has spent most of her life in captivity because she is the illegitimate daughter of a politician. The plot is very interesting and deep, with themes that are relevant to not just Korean society but any place that is rotting with corruption. One of the themes that appealed to me, the most, was that every person is both a lamb and a wolf, and the position changes based on their circumstances.          I just finished watching this drama and I am a little disappointed. It is a much loved drama and I thought it would be great and it was in the beginning, but as the episodes go by it becomes a little annoying. The plot is soooooooooo good and the mind games were very e

Deadman Wonderland- Why It Deserves A Second Season

Deadman Wonderland: Ganta I saw an article online and I can't understand why this anime is getting so much hate. I personally loved it. From what I understand from the article and the comments people were disappointed with the ending of the manga, and how the anime does not follow the same path as the manga. I don't think these are reasons why you should hate an anime. (but to all their own) The anime is about a boy named Ganta who gets framed for killing his entire class. Being the only one who knows the unbelievable truth about how his friends died and not being able to defend himself, he is sent to prison on a death sentence. The prison is privately run facility that makes its prisoners play dangerous survival games for entertainment. He is surrounded by bloodthirsty inmates with a collar around his neck that is slowly killing him. While all he can think of is getting back at the Red Man who killed his friends and brought him to this hell. That's basically the g

Okja - Review

This is a very different movie, I saw the poster and thought it would be like a Hayao Miyazaki movie but I was so wrong. It began sort of like Charlie In The Chocolate Factory, then became The Jungle Book, later it was Grave Of The Fireflies and ended at a very new narrative.        It is a movie about a girl who raises a pig (giant pig called the Super pig, created to end world hunger) with her grandfather in the mountains of South Korea. The pig is basically an experiment and must be returned after ten years but the girl doesn't know that. Through out the movie she tries to get her friend back.      From This Point Onward There may Be Spoilers!     This movie raises so many questions that are already being asked but no one really cares. All those people who have raised pets must know this, that each animal develops its own personality. They feel happy, sad and angry just like people do but when it comes to slaughtering them they are nothing but products. I am not

Bride of The Water God - Review (K drama)

The drama is about a deity who is almost all powerful but needs to find some stones on earth so he can be the king of all deities. He lands on earth looses his powers and meets a psychiatrist, who turns out to be his servant. Now he needs to gather the stones and go back to claim his throne. But wait! For some mysterious reason he lost all his powers, his map and deities who were supposed to hand over the stones to him- avoid him.      I will start with the good stuff, the actors were cool, they did an awesome job, the scenery was beautiful and the beginning was quite hopeful (In terms of story development).  I read somewhere that the land of water was actually shot in an Indian Mahal, so kudos to the production team for making that happen. There were many highs and lows in the plot that kept you hooked. You could feel the hard work everyone put in the project, the graphics were really cool and characters were likable.      I expected so much from this drama, because I used

Grave of The Fireflies - Review

Grave of The Fireflies You know in the beginning that they will (Spoiler Alert) die and/or get separated, yet the end still does not fail to shatter your heart. I had been avoiding this movie for a long, long time because I knew it was a sad one, but for some reason I decided to watch it today. Now my throat aches, my jaw is all clenched up and my eyes are filled with tears. I do not know who to blame? I mean this story is not just about two children left to fend for themselves, its about war, careless adults, poverty, greed and cruelty. I don't know much about world history but whenever there is war its the weak who suffer most. I heard somewhere when two bulls fight it's the grass that crushed. personally I am a pacifist. I do believe in Freud's explanation of Thantos but there is also Eros. So if people have aggressive tendencies they also have nurturing one. It should be all balanced out but sadly it isn't and Hayao Miyazaki shows that to us throu

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo - Review

Photo by  Cyril Saulnier  on  Unsplash This drama is a must watch for any and every k-drama addict and if you are not an addict yet, it would definitely make you one. It's not a love story not between a rich Romeo and a poor Juliet, who need protection. It is lobe story of two athletes the strong woman Kim Bok Joo (a weight lifting protege) and Jung Joon Hyung (an amazing swimmer with psychosomatic issues). All in all its a match made in Heaven. Both the lead roles are cute and perfect for one another. P.s. They are dating in real life. Fingers crossed for their happy and ever lasting love. Favorite character: Kim Bok Joo,  cause she is amazing 💕💕💕 P.P.S her friends are awesoooommmeee!!!!

Fight For My Way (Review)

This drama is fairly unconventional in the sense that incorporates careers, dreams and emotions in a very realistic way. Yes, it does have a love triangle and other conventional parts that all romantic k-dramas have but it gives all of that a practical touch. Four childhood friends, pursue their lives while forgetting their dreams but as the story develops their realize their dreams again and literally fight for their way. Park Seo Joon for his dream to become a fighter and Kim Ji Won for her dream to become an announcer. while pursuing their dreams they come to terms with their feeling and fall in love. The only obstacle their dreams and their wish to keep each other safe. And also a crazy ex from the past who wont take no for an answer.

Cheese In The Trap - Review

Based of of a webtoon this drama is about a girl and her time in college. This drama perfectly identifies and portrays the hardships of students. From fighting for course registration to heavy load of social scrutiny, from meeting deadline to unpredictable love lines, this drama has it all. Trapped between a stalker, the cold-hearted sunbae and angsty/fun friend, our female lead tries to find love and safely graduate. The drama also has a feminist side to it as well, pointing out how the family spent money on their son to get a foreign degree while the sister had to work part tome jobs on top of her scholarship to bridge the gap. It is a perfect blent of Painful past, hard choices, love triangle, jealousy,  peer pressure, dreams and the determination to achieve them. The only downside: There isn't enough of it. Let's just cross our fingers for a second season (highly unlikely though). My favorite character: Baek In Ha, she is beautiful, wild, free and una
